UMW logo United Methodist Women (UMW) is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

At Edenton Street United Methodist Church we have developed ten distinct circle groups that make up UMW within the church. The primary division for each circle is age and stage of life. If you are between 20 and 100 years of age - we have a circle for you!

Each circle has determined where God is calling them to mission and how the group can participate in God's mission through United Methodist Women. Typical missions involve:

  • Assisting woman in the community as they struggle for education and health care;
  • Providing scholarships, grants and other monies for programs assisting women and children;
  • Building relationships and being in partnership with women in their struggles; and joining them in leadership-development opportunities so they can gain skills to share the Gospel, train each other and assume leadership

Through the UMW reading program, Response magazine, social gatherings, and other spiritual programs and activities UMW offers woman of all age groups and life stages an opportunity to bond with other woman, develop strong friendships and become closer to God.

We invite you to join United Methodist Women and experience the joy a closer relationship with God can bring to you. For additional information please  contact Lisa Milliken.

UMW Cookbook - A Taste for Missions

The ESUMC UMW is preparing a taste-tempting cookbook featuring favorite recipes from members of our community.  Our cookbook will be beautifully illustrated and bound and is sure to be treasured for years.

Each cookbook will contain helpful cooking hints, recipe category dividers, a table of contents, an index, and special pages of interest to our community.  The cookbook will be typeset in an easy-to-read format and professionally printed and bound.

Proceeds from our cookbook sales will help fund Missions sponsored by our UMW.   Presales will begin on May 4th and there will be a bake sale featuring items from the cookbook on that day in the Chapel Annex.  Presales of the cookbook will be held on Sunday May 4, 11 & 18.
