The Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network (WIHN) is a ministry for families who are temporarily homeless. Its purpose is to provide shelter, food, job search, and money management training (if needed), and assistance in finding affordable housing to families until they are able to secure housing of their own.

Three or four times a year, ESUMC will host anywhere from three to five families for a week at a time. We provide them with a place to sleep and with morning and evening meals. During the day, members of the families are attending school, working, or receiving training on how to obtain a job and/or how to find affordable housing at the WIHN Center on Method Road.

Hosting these families requires a BIG commitment from the church. During WIHN Host Week, we need volunteers to:

  • set up and take down facilities
  • help with supplies
  • drive vans
  • serve meals
  • serve as overnight hosts

We also need individual cereal packages, individual drinks, pouches, or boxes, and individual puddings and fruit. Please place the donations in the blue bin in the Donations closet on the first floor of the Curtis Lobby.

You can also help support the WIHN program by sending a check to the church office made payable to "Edenton Street United Methodist Church" and indicate in a cover letter or in the check footnote that you are making a contribution to WIHN.
If you would like to volunteer to help during WIHN week, please email Crystal at WIHN ESUMC.

Many thanks and God bless.
