Meet Doug Morgan - The Gathering Coordinator

The Gathering Coordinator

How long have you been a member of Edenton Street?
Five years.

What’s your favorite thing about working with the Gathering?
Being a part of God’s work. Witnessing first-hand God calling folks into a relationship with Him. Seeing a place where being real before God and others is accepted and welcomed.

What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you here?
My three-year-old son asking me if Stefan was Jesus.

Where were you born and raised?
I was born in Connecticut, but I was raised and grew up in Charlottesville, Va.

Where did you go to school?
Hampden-Sydney College

How many children do you have?
One: Bishop.

Any pets?
One rowdy black lab named Caneel.

What is most important about your work with the Gathering? What drives you? What is your passion?
Being used by God to help others draw close to Him, to realize their need for redemption and fall at the feet of Jesus. Basically to help foster an intimate relationship with Jesus that transforms them and others.

What are your favorite books, movies or songs?
I love the Lord of the Rings movie series. The book Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby is the most influential book in my life other than the Bible. Music: to name a few ... I love Needtobreathe, Casting Crowns, Third Day, Group 1 Crew and, of course, anything by master recording artist Stefan Oldblood!

How do you like to spend your free time?
Traveling, spending time with family and friends, time at the beach, running and biking, reading, and spending time reading God’s Word.

If you weren’t working at Edenton Street, what would your profession be?
Actually I don’t officially work for ESUMC, but hey, can I get paid?

What’s your favorite food?
Anything Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, American or French. Yum, now I’m hungry!

What do you order when you go to Starbucks?
Believe it or not, I don’t drink caffeine. So unless I’m with Stefan, I never go to Starbucks.

What did your parents call you when you were in trouble?
“Douglas Bishop Morgan” or one of our dog’s names if my mom was really mad!

E-mail Doug.
