ESUMC for Couples

ESUMC for Couples

We offer numerous small group studies and Sunday School classes that welcome people of all ages and backgrounds. There are two Sunday School classes in particular that include marriage studies throughout the year:

  • The Marriage Course:   This class is for couples who want to deepen their marriage through God.  Each of the 8 weeks of the class includes a romantic dinner for two, free childcare, and a time to discuss issues that will strengthen your marriage.
  • Circa (a newly-formed class for couples and new parents that focuses on marriage studies and parenting studies).  Meets weekly on Sundays from 9:45 - 10:45 in Room 162
  • Children of God (Sunday school class for families with children about 10 years old and younger) with a focus on marriage, parenting, Scripture study, and life application studies.  Meets weekly on Sundays from 9:45-10:45 in Room 163
"This is my prayer for you: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight." Philippians 1:9

Ways to serve
There are lots of other ways you can get involved as a couple! One of the most fun activities you can do as a couple is to serve during the Love Feast that kicks off Advent each year. Couples generally serve at the Love Feast for three years and then rotate off to let others enjoy the opportunity.

Of course, you can also choose missions outreach opportunities and small group studies, as well as committees that you would like to serve on together.

Ways to celebrate
Each winter (usually mid-February to early March), we sponsor the Red Rose Benefit, an evening of dinner and dancing that raises money to support the Ruth Sheets Center. What better way to treat your sweetheart to an evening out?

Engaged couples
There is a marriage seminar offered each quarter for all engaged couples who will be married at the church or by one of our pastors elsewhere. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time learning some marriage basics and meeting other couples at the same exciting stage in their lives.

In the early planning stages for your wedding? Take a look at our wedding policy for everything you need to know about getting married at the church.

If you have questions about programs for you as a couple, please contact Joy Owen, Director of Welcoming Ministries, at 919-832-7535, ext. 350.
