Church Library

Church Library
Did you know? The exposed brick panel is actually the back wall of the sanctuary that burned down in 1956.

The Edenton Street Church Memorial Library was established many years ago with a gift from the late Blanche Brian, a member and former director of Christian Education at the church. It is a two-part facility, currently with nearly 4,000 resources for children, youth, and adults.

Come browse the shelves, and see for yourself all the great resources we have for you.

The main library is located in the church office area on the second floor between the sanctuary and the Poindexter Education Building and is open any time the church office is open. The Children's Library is located in room 316-A on the third floor of the Poindexter Education Building.

The main library has:

  • Books
  • Biblical research materials
  • Wesley/Methodist materials
  • Devotional and inspirational reading
  • Magazines
  • Videos

Check-out policy
We use a card system for checking out resources. There is not a "due date," but the card is stamped with a date that lets the librarian know approximately when you checked out a resource from the library. If you don't bring it back within a couple of months, she will send you a friendly "reminder." When you return it to the library, simply drop it into the "Book Returns" basket just inside the door, and the librarian will check it in.

Requests and donations
We always welcome input about resources from members of the congregation for both the general library and the children's library.

You may also make donations of books or funds for the purchase of books in honor or in memory of individuals for either branch of the library. However, you must consult with the church librarian before making a donation.

Used resources can sometimes be accepted, but they should always be in good condition. Out-of-print or damaged materials are not usually accepted. The church librarian makes a determination as to the suitability of resources. She is available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from mid-morning until mid-afternoon and at other times, if needed.
