The church is a place where God’s creative spirit surrounds us with beauty beyond imagination. It is this wonderful connection between God and each of us that allows the creative spirit to soar and blossom through music and all the worship arts.

We offer a variety of music and worship arts programs for a range of ages and genres. Our program includes choirs, handbell choirs, worship bands, dance troupes, drummers, and other instrumental groups.

For questions, contact Josh Dumbleton, Associate Director of Music and Worship Arts.

Adult Music and Worship Arts Ministries

“Let everything that breathes Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6

The heart of our church is our worship life together, with six worship services distinct in style, but uniform in theology and conviction in the United Methodist tradition.  Singing, dancing, and instrumental music enhance and deepen our spiritual journey together.  The church is a place where God’s creative Spirit surrounds us with beauty beyond imagination. It is this wonderful connection between God and each of us that allows the creative Spirit to soar and blossom through music and all the worship arts.  We offer a variety of music and arts programs for a range of ages.  We invite you and your family to join Edenton Street’s vibrant Music and Worship Arts Ministries and to get connected as we express our faith through music and the arts (see page ?? of announcements for a complete listing of adult music ministries).
Chancel Choir (Rehearses Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Choir Room.)
Fall kick-off is
Thursday, August 18th(choir social following rehearsal)
Comprised of approximately 80 voices, the distinguished Chancel Choir sings for the 10:55 a.m. worship service and is divided into smaller ensembles who sing at the 8:40 a.m. worship service. The Chancel Choir also has festival singers who sing for special services throughout the year.  The Chancel Choir presents major choral works and other special worship services with orchestra several times throughout the year.  While perceived as a ‘professional’ choir, the Chancel Choir is comprised of volunteers who give freely of their time to love and serve the Lord and their church through the gift of music. Our choir is open to all adults with a desire to raise their voices in praise to Almighty God.

Handbell Choirs

Bells of Praise (Rehearses Thursday evenings from 6 – 7 p.m. in the Choir Annex.)
Fall kick-off is
Thursday, September 8th.

Wesley Handbell Choir (Rehearses Sunday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 in the Choir Annex.)
Fall kick-off is
Sunday, September 11th.
The handbell choirs are dedicated to learning the ancient and honorable art of bell ringing. These groups provide music for Sunday morning worship services and other special services throughout the year.  Bell rehearsals are fun and informal; all that is required is a commitment to learn and make music together.

Dance Ministry

Spirit Led Dancers (High Schoolers and Adults) (Rehearses Sunday evenings from 5 – 6 p.m. in Room # 357)
Fall kick-off is
Sunday, September 11th.
The Dance Ministry is for persons interested in dance as a form of worship and art. The dance ministry is incorporated into regular worship services and special programs throughout the year.

Instrumentalists
Persons who play instruments are encouraged to use these talents by performing as solo instrumentalists, or as groups or ensembles as part of special music for worship services. These persons are used on an “as needed” basis.
If you would like any information on any of our adult music ministries, please contact Josh Dumbleton at the church office. (919-832-7535 ext. 2634 or jdumbleton@esumc.org)

Children and Youth Music and Worship Arts Ministries Overview

“Let everything that breathes Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6

We at Edenton Street believe that we have a God-given responsibility along with parents to, “Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) One of the ways we do this is through our Children and Youth Music and Worship Arts Ministry. Through this ministry, Edenton Street seeks to educate our children by discovering, developing, and perfecting their God-given talents in the many worship arts of the church. Children and youth have the opportunity to cultivate their various gifts through singing, ringing bells, and dance, all so that they might grow more fully in their faith. Children and youth use these gifts to help lead in worship as we together glorify God and proclaim the redemption, power, and work of the Holy Spirit through the many worship arts. In addition to regular Sunday morning worship, the children and youth participate in special services throughout the year, as well as serving the greater community beyond the walls of our church.

We need your children!  We are eager to grow this program and in the year 2016, we realize families are already BUSY enough and cannot fathom adding one more commitment.  If you are one of these families, please consider signing up for just one semester!  We would love to have your child for fall AND spring, but if fall OR spring works best with your schedule, we still want to include your children!  We are also working with leaders in the church to provide programming for parents while the children are in their classes.  Sunday supper is available after Sunday evening programming, at $5 per person.  Also, childcare is available for younger siblings who are not old enough to participate!!  We invite you and your family to join Edenton Street’s vibrant Music and Worship Arts Ministries and to get connected as we express our faith through music and the arts.
