Edenton Street United Methodist Church is expanding its "Ministry Through Music Program" to enrich the musical life of our congregation. Historically, where the arts have flourished, the church has flourished and where the church has flourished, the arts have flourished. The church has always been a place where the arts have found acceptance and encouragement. Just think how many compositions by great composers like Bach, Mozart, and Haydn were nurtured in the church!
The church is a place where God's creative spirit surrounds us with beauty beyond imagination. It is this wonderful connection between God and each of us that allows the creative spirit to soar and blossom through music and all the worship arts.
What is so beautiful is that no matter the musical level of a child, youth or adult, there is a place to begin within this program. Whether you want to learn music by rote or sing a great oratorio with orchestra, it's all here in your church waiting for you to join us. Like the ancient concept of the cathedral and connecting school, Edenton Street is here to lead its people in developing their whole being to the love and service of God through Jesus Christ and His children, and to develop in each individual a love for the beauty that is in and around us.
Choir Dedication Sunday Choir Dedication Sunday was held on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 10:30 am as part of the our Bicentennial Celebration Service. All choirs and worship arts groups participated in worship and were dedicated for their call to this ministry. A special anthem commissioned by composer Dan Forrest was presented, directed by Dr. Bill Weisser. Portions of this service video can be viewed here.
