Welcome Rev. Hultman!
Welcome, Rev. Suzanne Cloyd Hultman! We are delighted to welcome Rev. Suzanne Cloyd Hultman to our clergy team, beginning November 1, 2025. Suzanne and her family are very excited to be joining the congregation at ESUMC. We asked Suzanne to share a bit about herself:
My husband Scott and I live outside of Chapel Hill and have a daughter and two sons. Scott works at WakeMed as a reconstructive and burn surgeon, and our family has lived in Chapel Hill for many years, though we recently spent a few years in Baltimore with Scott's work.
Scott and I like to think we are "re-nesting" as our "kids" travel various paths in young adulthood. Chloe is our eldest and lives in Atlanta, working at the CDC. Hank serves in the Army and is now stationed at Ft. Bragg after completing college and serving in South Korea for a year. Timothy is working hard and enjoying his final year of college at Wake Forest University. We all love our spunky Bernadoodle, Rango, who brings joy and fun (and sometimes trouble!) on a daily basis.
I was born and spent my early years on a Navajo Reservation in New Mexico where my parents were missionaries, but grew up most of my school years in middle Tennessee where my parents served in ministry in the UMC. Ministry has been woven into my life from the beginning!
As an ordained elder and member of the NC Conference of the UMC, I have served in ministry in several local congregations through the years. I am a proud graduate of Duke Divinity School (just a FEW years ago). I was associate pastor at Davis St UMC in Burlington, served as pastor of Clover Garden UMC in White Cross, served as associate pastor at Christ UMC in Chapel Hill, and most recently, pastor of Palmer's Grove UMC in Hillsborough. I also served as minister of spiritual formation at Embry Hills UMC in Atlanta, GA while Scott completed his training, and I trained and served as a chaplain at UNC Hospitals. Currently, I am training in Spiritual Direction with the NC Institute of Spiritual Direction and Formation.
I am thrilled to be joining the ministry at ESUMC and feel God has opened this door for me to serve. I feel it's an honor to be in ministry in with you and I look forward to meeting and getting to know the ESUMC community!
