Empowering orphans: Meet James

After losing his parents at age 16, James became the primary caregiver for his three younger siblings. As an orphan, providing for his family while trying to build a future seemed overwhelming and impossible.

In 2022, things began to change when James joined a Zoe Empowers empowerment group sponsored by our church.  He received training in business, agriculture, health, and children’s rights, and a grant to start selling goods from a simple market table. Step by step, his determination paid off.

After graduating from the program, James had achieved what once seemed impossible. Today, he owns a provision shop that provides steady income for his siblings and stands as proof of how far he has come.

From loss and uncertainty to stability and hope, James’ small beginning has grown into a thriving future in Liberia.

Help more young people like James overcome extreme poverty for good.

Join us in reaching our Lenten almsgiving goal of $28,500 to fund a new Zoe Empowerment Group—coming alongside orphaned and vulnerable youth and children in Liberia.
