Empowering orphans: Meet Daniel

Daniel’s mother died when he was 13 years old. Following her death, his father left and never returned. Suddenly, Daniel and his younger brother Abraham were on their own. With no one to care for them, the boys dropped out of school and took whatever hard labor they could find just to survive. They were often paid unfairly and struggled with hunger and illness because they lacked nutritious food and clean drinking water.

Then Daniel joined a Zoe Empowers empowerment group sponsored by our church.  He received training in business and agriculture, along with a grant to start a small farming business. As his income grew, Daniel reinvested his profits and learned how to make soap, starting another small business. Today, Daniel runs several small businesses that provide for his family.

Daniel also grows vegetables and raises livestock, providing steady food for his household. Because of his hard work and the support of Zoe, his brother Abraham returned to secondary school—and Daniel was able to teach another young person in his group how to make soap and build a future.
